We are made up to share that Smarta Switch is back as a proud sponsor of Plymouth Albion RFC for the 2025/26 season. This one means a lot to us, and not just as a business arrangement.
A club close to home
I have been connected to Plymouth Albion for more than twenty years, as a supporter long before Smarta Switch existed. So renewing this sponsorship is not a marketing decision on a spreadsheet, it is backing a club I have stood and watched for most of my life. Supporting local, properly, has always been part of how we do things here.
A big year for the club
The timing makes it even more special. Plymouth Albion is approaching its 150th anniversary, a remarkable milestone for any club, and there is real momentum about the place. I am genuinely excited about playing a small part in helping bring this club back to its glorious days.
There is a cracker to look forward to too. On Boxing Day, Albion face the Cornish Pirates, and the club is expecting a crowd of around 5,000. If you have never been to a Devon-versus-Cornwall derby in full voice, that is the one to go to.
Why a utility broker sponsors a rugby club
It comes back to what we believe in. Smarta Switch is built on long-term relationships, cutting out the jargon and giving people clarity, the same values that make a good club tick. Backing Plymouth Albion is an extension of that. We are a local business that wants the South West to do well, on and off the pitch.
And the day job
While we are talking, the day job has not changed. We help businesses across Devon and Cornwall save on energy, water, merchant services, business mobile and ultrafast broadband. Through the Smarta Challenge we will find you at least £1,000 in savings, and we’re paid by the supplier when you switch, never by you.
What to do this week
If you run a business in the South West and your utility contracts have not been looked at in a while, take the Smarta Challenge. Upload a recent bill at /upload-bill/ and we will review it for free and show you what you could save. Come on you Albion.
